From this task i have gained the understanding towards how indie bands compare to very successful and worldwide bands. Indie artists in the modern age have to find unique and diverse way to gain fans and a sense of community within their fanbase. as Ratboy is in his young 20s, he appeals to teenagers and in general, young people. This means that as he grows he must try and stay the same and not be influenced to change as he gets bigger. Also making his own clothing line gains more followers due to vintage and retro being more and more personified through today's society.                                                                          

Task 13: Advanced Editing Techniques / green screen practice

From participating in this creative task i have experienced how to use a green screen in further developing my knowledge in editing. This task was very challenging as We've never used a green screen to enhance our creativity before. We didn't only have problems with editing via the green screen but also using the product itself. We didn't know that having creases in the fabric would play a huge part in the final version. I think for our first time, we did this fairly well. Some of the clips are better than others down to simple aspects like : holding the screen still, keeping the camera still and knowing what we were going to do. One of the hardest aspects of this task was coming up with ideas that would work in the confined space we have and what went well with already existing footage for a green screen. In most cases our actor just sat down or stood, doing nothing. This makes the production look cheap and unorganised. If we were to redo the task, we'd thoroughly consider each step in order for the final product to look as proffessional as possible.

In the other video we learned how to match several clips, seamlessly, to make a more enticing and engaging use of editing. This task was easier than the green screen task as all we needed to do on most occasions was to do the same action in several places, or make items appear in a way that the continuity isn't effected. The hardest part was making sure we did the exact same action n on each take, so when we edited the piece, it could link up perfectly. We also had to conciser minor factors such as the distance from the action, same camera angle, same quality and same costume. This enhanced the level of continuity. Overall i believe that we did very well, on both tasks, and this has aided and developed my knowledge and experience of how to use more immersive, creative and unique editing techniques.

Digipaks are usually displayed in public places such as city centers, billboards and on buses. They're usually bold with bright colours and catchy front covers to capture the public's attention, much like advertisements for films.

Learning comment

From completing this task, i have gained fundamental information, ideas and styles that i would use in my final piece to illustrate that i know how to properly create an advertisement for my own digipak. Furthermore, from doing this task, i can analyse why certain artists have used such knowledge to individualize themselves from other competitors in the same genre as them in order to stand out more. When it comes to creating my own advert, i will try my hardest to incorporate as many different codes and conventions, in order to stand out and grab the demographics attention.

From doing this task i have developed my understanding of what digipak actually is in the music industry and how different genres of music alter the design in order to get the best promotion and advertisement. Pop digipaks usually use an array of different, vibrant, colours, close ups of the artist. I have also learned what typically consists of a digipak, the materials and content used. I have further extended my  knowledge of the codes and conventions of digipaks. From this task i have realised how crucial an appropriate digipak cover and inside content is to the demographic. When it comes to making my own, i will take this into consideration.
